A 26-year-old Venezuelan, Tamara Elizabeth Noriega Gomez, was yesterday sentenced to 18 months imprisonment by (ag) Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry on the charges of forgery, felony and illegal entry.She pleaded guilty to the charges of uttering a forged document, two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony and entering Guyana illegally.She was unrepresented and was provided with an interpreter.According to police prosecutor, Stephen Telford, on December 2, at the Ogle Airport, East Coast Demerara, Gomez was about to board a flight for Port Kaituma, Region One. She presented to the immigration officer, a Venezuela passport number 01891977.Upon closer examination, the officer discovered that the passport, the entry stamp and visa stamp were forged. She was arrested.An investigation was then conducted in to the matter. It was found that the accused came through a port other than the legal port of entry.
