He pleaded guilty but asked to give an explanation.Prosecutor Bharrat Mangru stated that on the day in question Hunte left his home to attend to matters in Georgetown. Upon his return he saw that his house had been broken into. He made a report to the police and an investigation was launched.Caesar was contacted by the police and an electric drill was allegedly found in his possession. In a bid to escape, he reportedly assaulted the officers.Caesar who was unrepresented, said, “On the day of my arrest two men came to my home in civilian clothing said they were police officers without any form of identification.”“The officers came into the house and order me to sit on the floor as they carried out a search. Hunte later came and the officers told him to check for his items as they repeatedly asked me for a laptop.”He also added, “The VC identified a knife as his and a pack of sanitary napkins saying that it belong to his girlfriend. An exchange of words took place; one of the officers came over and cuff me in my belly and tell me to shut my mouth… the VC choke me from behind another officer asked for a rope to tie me up.”He said that the officer took his clothes line to tie him up and fearing for his life he bit both officers, one on the hand and the other on the leg and tried to escape.The Prosecutor however objected to bail. He stated that the defendant is currently under investigation for other similar charges.Bail was refused and Caesar is expected to make his next appearance at the Matthew’s Ridge Magistrate’s Court on August 4.
